Dear Questers,
Spring is revealing its secrets, unveiling a new path to travel, and in the case of our new exploration, the path itself is the Quest.
April's Creative Quest theme is Maps.
"A map does not just chart, it unlocks and formulates meaning; it forms bridges between here and there, between disparate ideas that we did not know were previously connected." - Reif Larsen
Throughout time, humans have sought ways to chart our understanding of the world and document our progress along the way. From looking up to the stars to find true north to tracing well-worn dirt trails with our fingers, we've been mapping our existence since we first began to wander.
Where once, the map reader was a skilled interpreter of terrain, now everyone has an atlas in their pocket that will get you from A to Z with reassuring robotic precision. But despite this technological marvel, do we understand the places we move through any deeper? Or have our robot field guides improved route efficiency while depleting curiosity for places?
In true CQ style, this April we'll venture beyond geographical accuracy - because maps are personal and political. They contain our stories, lived histories and emotional connections.
The beauty of maps extends far beyond paper and pixels. They're all around us and within us - guiding stars above, neural pathways within, neighbourhoods we navigate daily. Each of us carries multiple maps simultaneously - of memories, of dreams, of possibilities.
In this Quest, we invite you to navigate the maps of others, embrace getting lost, and explore what it means to be a creative cartographer. As always, mastery is not the objective - our individual destinations will become clear. The path becomes clear through walking it.
Grab your compass, pack your imagination, we are heading on a treasure hunt to uncover a whole new way of perceiving.
