Dear Questers,
Sam here 👋 Popping up for air to give you a peek into what our first week of Questing has revealed. 45 of us are all immersing our curiosity in SCULPTURE and it’s been generative already!
First of all - I would like to publicly declare that I have missed this collective process so much! We took a much need break last year to focus on some other projects - but it’s only returning to our community programme now that I get to fully appreciate how unique Creative Quests is.
A supportive space, full of questioning and exploration. There is no teacher. Everyone’s curiosity and perspectives are valued. Zero competition. No one is in search of mastery - just practicing the art of beginning.
Before we share some Sculpture inspiration - we have an event invite for you…
SCULPTURAL EXPLORATIONS

In every Quest we invite a special guest to come and share their passion and wisdom with us on whatever theme we are exploring. This time we thought we’d open up the invite! I have been following the work of Leap Then Look for some years - I think the way they bridge the world of contemporary art and everyday play is brilliant. So it’s a joy to be able to share their work with the CQ community.
100 Miles of String: An interactive artwork where 100 miles of string is handed out to the public to weave, wind and criss-cross around and in-between a set of large wooden structures.
About Leap Then Look
Leap Then Look was founded in 2018 by artists Lucy Cran and Bill Leslie. They create interactive art works, participatory projects, workshops and events for people from a wide range of backgrounds, ages and cognitive differences. Their art works encourage audiences to physically interact, inspiring playfulness, inquisitiveness and experimentation. Their installations combine art forms including sculpture and object making, performance, film, and photography.
Play Interact Explore: an exhibition exploring the possibilities of play, collaboration and material exploration in cross-disciplinary art practice. Featuring several large, tactile sculptural objects, touchable artworks and colourful assemblages, creating a lively, exciting and curiosity-filled space designed to support and encourage visitors of all types to take part in playful exploration and critical thought through making.
About our session with Lucy Cran:
• You’ll get an intro to Creative Quests and our Sculpture explorations so far
• Learn about Leap Then Look and their unique research based practice
• Conversations exploring ‘What is sculpture anyway?
• Dive into some Sculpture-based activities that will turn your everyday into a interactive playground
