Ways of Perceiving
We don’t see things as they are. We see things as we are. - Anais Nin.
I love curating lineups. Learning how different people approach or see the same topic is a source of great fascination for me. In fact I’d go as far as saying that our individual ways of perceiving are the roots of our creativity.
When we find a way to uniquely express our perceptions - this is art.
Our personal perceptions of what the world looks like is shaped over time like a landscape, sculpted by the seasons.
Our upbringings, social circles, geographies, jobs. mental health all play their parts.
But so do our passions.
The things we do.
The things we make.
The places we love.
The stuff we care about.
The things that make you feel like you.
The world through the eyes of a dancer with restless feet is different to that of a fiction writer with a story in their heart.
The world through the eyes of a skateboarder, who sees architecture as opportunity, is different to that of a climate activist with earth & ocean coursing through their veins.
Despite our differences, creativity is an innate power that we all share. Yet it doesn’t appear the same in all of us.
Creativity is fluid - it fills the spaces we open up for it.
So what if we spent more time exploring how new forms of creativity and different worldviews could manifest in our lives?
This is a real value of collective experiences and why I feel people get so much from our Quests. Your own creative capacity expands through proximity and osmosis to other peoples perceptions.
We celebrate our differences through:
Making how other’s make.
Doing as others do.
Seeing how others see.
So I hope you will explore your perceptions with us! Be it this Sunday at our salon, buying our new book, or signing up to a Quest in 2025.

🐟 The most fun music project I have seen in a minute. Green Day’s ‘Dookie’ has been ‘demastered’. Each track released on a different, completely esoteric format. Including: a singing fish.
🎵 I just watched the Quincy Jones documentary on Netflix. It’s an incredible watch and portrays his complete laser focus on creative ingenuity, evolution and craft so well (at times to his detriment). My favourite moment is when he’s speaking to Oprah about what drives him. He says ‘we’re only here for 26,000 days…and you bet they’re gonna know we came through here’.

Finally…
Please do check out our new book! (only 18 days left of me promoting the crowd funder!). It’s really quite good and has been made by 20 people in our Quester community (this is no small feat).
I love hearing from readers in the comments and ❤️’s always feel good.
If you enjoy I’d love it if you shared it with a friend or two; you can send them here to sign up.
Big love,
